JKR70 has released a new video for the song “The Replacement” from (“The Whether Machine”) his collaboration with Clay Hughes . The album received the honor of being on a hand full of “Best Of” lists last year, and can be picked up here.

Lennon P. Bone Heads Back On The Road With Ha Ha Tonka

After a stint of time working on solo material and collaborations, Lennon is heading back out for the summer with Ha Ha Tonka. The band will hit the road for a few weeks with Langhorne Slim making stops across the east coast and midwest (including Lawrence, KS), and will follow up that tour with a national run supporting Murder by Death.

Sons of Great Dane To Be Featured On The “Chevy Music Showcase”

Chevy has launched a campaign that travels around the country, picking out cities and highlighting their local music scenes. The crew will spend a hand full of days in each town filming live performances and interviews within the cities most well known and intimate venues. The footage is then cut down to 2-3 minute episodes that air before “The Late Show with David Letterman” on the regional television station, showing bits of a live performance of the band as well as an “artist on artist” interview giving the viewer more insight into the groups approach and personality.

The main goal of the project is to try and reach the locals that may not realize what their own city has to offer in terms of a “music scene”, and to hopefully encourage people to go out and support the talent that’s in their own back yard as well as the national talent coming through. Thus far Chevy has highlighted Oklahoma City, St. Louis, Kansas City and is rumored to head to Dallas next.

The Sons guys were selected to be a part of Kansas City’s season, which is due to air in the not so distant future, and spent an afternoon filming with local singer/songwriter Margo May.

This our second makeover since we launched the label back in November of 2010… I hope you all notice some improvements. We’re very proud of our growth around here. At the risk of getting sentimental, I’ll do my best to keep this short. The releases that we’ve put out and the people that involve themselves with this venture are continuing to grow, and that is a must for a start up such as ourselves. We’ve never claimed to be anything big… but we’re always trying to get bigger, and that’s something not everyone can say about their team. I thank all the people that have been involved from the bottom of my heart as we continue to move forward.

We lost a very valuable staff member last week due to a shift in career paths. Ms. Rachel Fredrickson has moved along to Colorado to pursue her passions, and we whole heartedly support her. She took care of all the “Show Picks” for the last year or so and was responsible for a lot of the internal ideas that are being acted upon. She was always on time in helping us show support to our local scene… and we can’t thank her enough for the time and effort she gave us.

We will continue to support this amazing cast of talent in the KC area, but we’ve decided that it’s best to let the “Show Picks” go… At least in the format that we were doing it. With growth comes change, and with a change of website I always think it’s time to re-think our approach and see what we can come up with for the future. In due time I’m sure there will be more things to share from our local market, but for at least a short while we will be keeping the website open for our own artists. We’re trying to get creative with ways to share music from our friends and peers, but in a way that involves our staff. It will happen. But again, growth takes time and we don’t want to promise things just to make you wait around for them.

Thank you SO much for keeping up with our little roster here at Sharp County Records. We’re a small but mighty crew. We are looking to expand our roster as we see fit, so if you would like to submit your material… please feel free to do so at sharpcountyrecords@gmail.com. Please continue to buy music, support artists Kickstarter campaigns, and go to shows. We all do our best to get by and do what we love, and it is by your generosity that we have the hope to keep this thing going.
